July 5th Celebrations

Posted on Jul 5th, 2007 by Diane : Free Spirit Diane

Hello! I had quite the experience attempting to photograph the Macy's fireworks (which were visible from one of my windows) last night. When reading tips, I learned not to use flash and, consequently, to use a tripod. Well, the tripod assembly just proved vexing, and I decided to go with the flash and make the best of it.

Here's a little of what it looked like last night:

And one of my favorites (after the smiley faces) -- Saturn!

And I'm still in a celebratory mood. I have mentioned in this blog that one of the topics I write about is my Finnish roots. Well, a piece I had been working hard on has been published by Women's eNews Daily. BTW, if you don't subscribe to this terrific service -- I suggest you do. You'll get an article a day in your mailbox, news written by women for women.

Good News for Writers

Posted on Jul 9th, 2007 by Diane : Free Spirit Diane

I have good news for you writers out there. This morning I happened to visit the Web site of one of my favorite organizations, the National Association of Women Writers and saw that they were scheduling another telesummit, this time on marketing your book. Now, it's true, I don't have a book currently to market but I have attended previous telesummits and I whole-heartedly recommend them.

You attend the sessions via telephone conference call. Ingenious Sheri, who runs NAWW, also provides downloads of the call in case you miss one.

For more info on NAWW, visit here.

Back from Vacation Again

Posted on Jul 29th, 2007 by Diane : Free Spirit Diane

Hello! I snuck out on you this week and managed to take a vacation in upstate New York, where I stayed at a yurt in the woods.

Me at the Yurt

This turned out to be a wonderful vacation, which the hubby and I enjoyed immensely. I'll be writing about it, in fact, for New Age Journal.com, and that should be online there in about a week.

In the meantime, I'm catching up on emails, snail mails, and everything else you do when you get back from vacation. And if you've noticed that pictures are missing from previous blog posts, that's because I changed my server a few weeks back. Don't know if I'll be re-uploading the photos or not.
